My parents. In my fourth apartment and seventh year in Washington, DC, and on this Wednesday evening, for the first time, my parents, who will be in town moving my lovely little sister, Regina, into her first apartment, will come over for dinner. How ironic that it also falls on day one of my culinary quest for all things new.
Before I left for work, which could be interpreted as a questionable attempt to bring inclusive education to a fancy independent school, I did a lightning fast inventory of the contents of my fridge. The results? Asparagus, baby portobello mushrooms, flat leaf parsley, an onion and some garlic. Oh, and I have some red skin potatoes.
After some soul searching and googling, I think it best to set myself up for success on this first blog/parent attempt. Perhaps that is wussy, but I don't care. I think a trip to the grocer for some chicken, proscuitto, marsala wine and stock could make for a nice and simple Wednesday evening meal. I've found a recipe from Tyler Florence on the Food Network, and although the meal isn't one I haven't heard of, it is one that I have not cooked.
Let's hope all who come for dinner tonight are well enough to meet for lunch tomorrow.
Well, Dad and I, Regina, Claire and her boyfriend, Josh just finished your exquisite chicken marsala dinner with perfectly cooked asparagus and red skinned potatoes. Absolutely delicious!!! Now I am eyeing the delicious strawberry tart in front of me. What an honor to be served in your apartment! Dad and I have looked forward to this for YEARS! Thank you so much!! A very memorable evening. Thank you!
